"A seasoned wanderer knows that good cloth between your shoulders and the wind is worth its weight in silver." Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge
Rooted in Norse and High Medieval tradition, the cloak was a vital staple for warriors, traders, and marchers traversing exposed country. The Thorvald cloak honours that heritage with honest construction. Woven from 200 GSM pure cotton, the weave is stout yet breathable, yielding a dependable mantle that falls into natural, heavy folds without stifling the wearer during long hours in the field.
Crafted with integrated side gores, the garment expands outward to grant uninhibited arm movement for martial drills or camp chores. The broad, attached hood shelters the face and neck against brisk draughts and light squalls, while the straightforward front tie closure ensures a firm hold over maille, gambesons, or linen tunics. Because each mantle is individually produced, natural differences in the cotton weave and stitchwork lend every piece an authentic, campaign-worn character.
When sizing and fitting your kit, account for undergarments. This cloak drapes cleanly across the shoulders on mild spring and autumn days, yet leaves ample room for heavier winter layers when the frost sets in. In garrison, maintain your gear with care: wash on a cold, gentle cycle or clean by hand using mild soap, wash matching colours together, and dry flat to preserve the drape. Keep clear of harsh bleaches, press with a medium iron, and it shall serve through seasons of venture.
