"A stout guard of hide backed by iron mail will turn an errant blow when a shield fails you." Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge
Crafted at the bench from genuine leather, these forearm bracers offer dependable defence and rugged martial presence. The centre of each guard is fortified with 16-gauge mild steel chainmail woven from ten-millimetre rings. Anchored firmly to the leather substrate, the links will not shift or bunch under heavy exertion, ensuring reliable protection and an authentic battle-worn look suitable for layered harnesses, tunics, or padded gambesons.
The anatomical, tapered profile is cut to mirror the arm’s natural contours, permitting an unhindered draw or parry. Fastened along the underarm with sturdy leather cord, the lacing allows you to adjust tension precisely to your build, maintaining a firm grip whether strapped over bare skin or heavy wool sleeves. Because every guard is shaped and stitched by hand, subtle variations in leather tone, grain, and mail finish reflect true workshop craft.
To preserve this kit through long seasons in the field, wipe the leather with a damp cloth after service and nourish the hide with leather balm. Guard the mild steel rings against moisture; dry thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to deter rust before stowing your gear in a cool armoury.
