Whether adorning a sword belt, fastening a heavy woollen cloak, or detailing field pouches and leather armour, these fittings offer both structural reinforcement and classic medieval decoration.

Installation requires nothing more than honest workshop basics. Mark your leather, pierce a clean hole using a punch or awl, push the integral pin through from the face, and seat the provided washer over the shank at the back. To secure the fitting for campaign conditions, peen or hammer the pin flush against the washer on an anvil or steady bench block. This traditional pin-and-washer method clamps the leather securely, preventing tear-out under strain.

Because every mount is crafted from solid brass, slight individual variations in tone and finish are entirely natural, enhancing the hand-wrought authenticity of your kit. In the field, brass will mellow and take on a handsome, dark patina. To keep a bright soldier’s gleam, buff periodically with a dry cloth or metal polish; otherwise, let time and hard campaigning grant them their earned, weathered character. Store your finished leathers in a cool, dry place between muster.
