"A proper ring should feel like a piece of forged conviction on the hand, not some flimsy trinket." Osric, Keeper of the Hearth & Forge
Drawn from Western European designs of the 11th and 12th centuries, this wide-band bronze ring reflects an age when metal and sworn oaths were bound together. Rings of this character served monks, nobles, and scholars as physical testaments of devotional faith, heraldic lineage, or sworn loyalty.
The band is produced through traditional lost-wax casting – cire perdue – wherein the design is carved in wax, encased, and displaced by molten bronze. This metallurgical method yields sharp, raised Gothic script across the exterior while preserving organic casting marks that give the piece individual character. Measuring approximately 10.35 mm in band width, the profile is heavy and unapologetic, yet the interior wall remains smooth to sit cleanly against the skin during movement.
With an inner diameter of 2.2 cm, ensure your sizing accounts for the broader band, which naturally fits more snugly than narrow wire rings. The solid bronze features a natural patina that deepens with age. Keep this piece in sound condition by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth after handling. Keep it well clear of water, harsh soaps, and acids that eat into bronze. To maintain the relief and surface tone, apply a light coat of mineral oil or wax rather than aggressive polishing, and stow it within a dry cloth pouch when off the hand.
